(Notice Oscar at the right with a crowd of people surrounding him.)

“Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no tomorrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.” -Oscar Wilde, The Canterville Ghost
(Oscar Wilde died on this day 111 years ago)
Above is a photo of Oscar’s original grave. Today his grave is constantly being defaced by visitors. Here’s to hoping that one day people will show proper respect for the life and death of one of the greatest literary figures of all time.
It appears the Wildean’s wish has come true. His tomb has been restored and covered with a glass shield.
